Filippo Vanzo - illustrator
Of animals, dinosaurs, and maps...
I am a Stockholm-based, Italy-born-and-raised freelance illustrator.
My art is greatly inspired by the strongly narrative, densely detailed and yet delicate works by old masters such as Rackham, Rockwell, Doré, and Bauer. Nature in all its forms is a muse, and I often end up including animals in my works. Illustrating maps and dinosaurs is also a favorite of mine.
I usually work in pencil or ink, and then add colour digitally, while trying to maintain a traditional feel. Sometimes I work digitally altogether if the project requires more flexibility in terms of image manipulation.
I love nature, hiking, maps, dinosaurs, video games, progressive and folk music, riding my bicycle, and sleeping. If I were not an illustrator, I would probably want be a wildlife photographer, or a park ranger.
